This unexpected and last minute expense needs to be paid to the City of Charlotte on Monday, June 29th.
So, we need just a few more donations from you to help us pay for the "security" that we are now required to pay for. There will be an appeal, but it's better to be prepared to pay for the security if the appeal falls through. If you have already donated, thank you very much. If you haven't, NOW is the time to step up and help out!
There was no required security fee for the Tea Party on April 4th or for the (as far as I know) April 15th Tea Party. I guess we are getting noticed!

How much money do you need for the police officer?

Hi Lori, We do not know what the expense will be. An off duty officer is $28-$30/hour, and if we have four or more officers, then we have to have a supervisor, also, which costs $45/hour. We do not know how many officers we will need to have at this time, but we will know first thing Monday morning.

Thanks Lori and all of you who sent in your contributions. The situation with the security is somewhat in flux. We will be required to have officers, but we still don't know how many will be required. The contract with the county to rent Marshall Park was unclear on that score. Stay tuned for updates!

America...Freedom of speech by permit only!!! Why should we have to pay for "security", when we have the right to assemble peacefully guaranteed in the first amendment? It is nothing more than a tax to hassle law abiding citizens rightfully protesting the misdeeds of their government. I say we tell Charlotte city hall to stick their "security tax" where the sun doesn't shine, and show up as planned!!

I agree with Anti-Federalist. This is ridiculous already. I say show up, set up, when the city realizes we have NO officers for "security" they can either send some over at their own expense (which they will to say we are in violation of some law - we will see a whole lotta officers then) OR they can see how the event goes without a problem as before on April 15, and also recognize they aren't dealing with rioters, protesters who cause mayhem, or other violent types. We are families with children and a love of this nation. We pay their salaries and they should apologize for their stupidity in not expressing how many officers were needed earlier. I am showing up. Officers or not. And if they threaten arrests then so much the better. Can you imagine the lawsuits the city will incur for arresting citizens at a park celebrating the 4th with bluegrass music and hot dogs? Damn us all... We will be front page of every newspaper and on the TV like crazy. What a boost for the conservative movement! The left will now arrest anyone who celebrates the birth of freedom! HAHAHAHA Too funny for words. The apologies would flow after that. "Oh we had to arrest them because they were obeying all laws and having fun! Their permit was well correct but we forgot to charge them for security, and so we had to arrest them all." Ladies and Gentlemen, They don't have the jail space or the gonads to do anything but ask us to pay for the officers at that time. If the little weasels try to arrest they will force a confrontation in court they can never imagine. The Supreme Court would be glad to hear a case about the imprisonment of citizens exercising their God given rights to assemble and speak, permit or not. This could overturn city's forcing groups to get a permit at all. Who in the name of all that is holy do they think they are anyway? Any volunteer officers want to show up and save the 4th? If I were the city I would be more concerned with the nighttime festival where they have a record of rioting in the streets, remember? We'll be out of there before the rioters show up...
