Here is the 223 SUMMARY of the Baucus plan. I can tell you one thing, the fine for an individual without health insurance within 100-300% of the federal poverty level (that would be me) is $750. The mandates on these health plans are outrageous. Premiums for healthcare will certainly skyrocket. At some point, I would rather just pay the fine, and if I ever have a catastrophic event, then and only then will I buy health insurance.

There is no denying or rating up of coverage because of a pre-existing condition (pg 2)

You would even be allowed to purchase health coverage in the hospital (pg 18)

So, why would I pay $300-450/month for health insurance when I go to the doctor maybe once every two years? $4000/year in premiums vs $750 fine... let me think about this one....

Ohh, but then they talk about the sliding scale subsidies based on income to help individuals purchase health care. (pg 20) It appears to me that the plan would be to raise the cost of health care via mandates, fees on health care providers, (pg 219) and forcing insurers to cover all risks. Once they make insurance unaffordable for the general public we will all be reliant on the governments subsidy to pay for our health care. Next time an election rolls around they will tell the public that if you vote against the Democrat their opponent will take your health insurance subsidy away.  The general public will forget how government influenced the cost of health care and will ask themselves how they would get by if it were for the monthly subsidy sent to them each month from the ever benevolent government.

Yikes
