Charlotte Tea Party Headquarters

Those of us living in the 12th District (that is certian neighborhoods) are being taxed to death but we have no representation. Mel Watt is absent! He cares nothing about his constituents. He has had no town hall meeetings. His office in unresponsive to calls and letters. His web site is terribly out of date. I am beginning if this guy actually exists!

It is past time for a change. I know that the Democrats gerrymandered District 12 in such a way so that the white vote from Charlotte to Greensboro was diluted and the black vote was maximized in an attempt to guarantee that a black, liberal Democrat always be elected in the 12th. I think that with the growth around Huntersville, Cornelius and the lake region may be beginning to change those demographics. I think the time has come to mount a major challenge to Mell Watt and remove him from office.

Does anyone know if there is a Republican or Independent challenger to Mell? If so please post the person's name and any contact information you have for that person. Then I think the Tea Party needs to get behind that person and help them defeat Mell in 2010. I know that many are involved with the health care issue but we must also focus on taking the House in 2010. It is our only hope in stopping the madness that is coming from that body of fools.

I agree that Mel Watt needs to go!  The 12th district doesn't make much contact with the northern towns though; in fact the district cuts into the northern part of Mecklenburg only so that it can include the only Democrat-majority precinct in that part of the county.

I would love to run but i border the 12th slightly and am in the 9th. Neil Braithwaite has filed and I will not run against another tea partier to limit the field and give maximum chance for success. If they "redistrict" and I fall into Watt's field, then I am more than ready to debate him. He is truly an empty shirt.

I am also "over it" with Mel Watt. Looking forward to ousting that Layabout!

My family will be in Washington on 9/12. Is there anything planned in Charlotte for those who can't make the trip? Just wondered...lots of 'tea parties' being held in other areas on 9/12. Anyone know how many from Charlotte/Gastonia are going?
