With our elected politicans coming home for a break and at least 2 huge issues not resolved yet, maybe we could post here dates, times, location and who will be there for Townhalls with our elected officals or even one on the issues?
Let's all keep our eyes open and post these townhalls so we can show up in force!!!!
Maybe Matt will make this it's own Forum?

For those of us that live in the 10th District:
Today, Congressman Patrick McHenry announced the schedule for his annual town hall meetings. As always, Congressman McHenry will hold a town hall meeting in each of the 10 counties comprising the 10th District of North Carolina. At his town hall meetings, Congressman McHenry gives an update on recent legislative activity in Congress and what to expect in the coming months. Town hall meetings are an opportunity for constituents to share their thoughts on the issues they are concerned about. Additionally, the Congressman’s staff will be available to meet privately with constituents who have issues with federal agencies including Social Security, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Internal Revenue Service. “These are challenging times for the citizens of Western North Carolina. As Congress considers sweeping legislation impacting our economy, energy security, and healthcare, it is vital that I get feedback from my constituents,” Congressman McHenry stated. The schedule and locations for the town hall meetings are as follows:
Avery County Town Hall Meeting Tuesday, August 4th at 6:00 p.m. Avery County Commissioners’ Board Room 175 Linville Street, 2nd Floor Newland, NC 28657

I sent an email to Senator Hagan's 'Scheduler', Sue Wink, to ask when the Senator will be holding town hall meetings. I received a reply this morning that said they would keep it in mind as they firm up her schedule. The Senator is a proponent of government run health care and Cap & Trade but it doesn't appear she has the courage of her convictions to get in front of her constiuents. This will only get done with pressure from us! Please email Sue Wink at sue_wink@hagan.senate.gov and ask WHEN not IF the Senator will be holding town hall meetings.

So far, neither Hagen or Burr are scheduling Town Meetings. Not hard to figure out why Hagen isn't. I'm going to call burrs office.

Just got in from the Healthcare Rally in Gastonia today that had around 300 people that I thought was good for no more notice given and lack of media coverage.
There was only one lady holding a sign up that read "Everyone Deserves Healthcare" with everybody else there having the signs "Hands off my Healthcare" and others that were good.
Great rally and I hope the Charlotte one goes well too!
Everybody contact Senator Hagan by phone, mail and e-mail.

Anybody know where Energy Secretary Steven Chu is going to be in Charlotte TODAY pushing the Obamacare plan???

Charlotte
With President Obama's Cabinet fanning out across the country to sell his administration's health care proposal, Energy Secretary Steven Chu will be in Charlotte today, the White House announced. The visit by Chu is part of a nationwide blitz and grass-roots lobbying effort by the administration that included a visit to Raleigh last week by the president. Chu will be at Celgard LLC, 13800 South Lakes Drive at 12:30 p.m. The event is invitation-only.

Am I correct in assuming that Mel Watt is camped out in the bunker? I get more mail and updates from Pat McHenry than I get from Mel Watt. I even went to Mr. Watt's office...

The other side is planning on being at the Sue Myrick Town Hall on the 25th in Weddington. We need to show up in numbers to support Sue Myrick.
You know they have the news media on they're side and will skew the story unless we are there too!

Sue Myrick Town Hall tonight at 6:30 at Weddington High School in Matthews. I will be there because I do not trust Sue. She voted for Cash for Clunkers, the Prescription Drug Medicare Part D Bill. She voted against the stimulous package, but only after she made sure her earmarks were included in the bill. She ran 15 years ago on "term limits" and I think its time to remind her that we can set the limits to her term on our own if she doesn't start treating the Constitution seriously.
See you there | |

I was there at Weddington tonight in the overflow and left early due to the place being packed with about 80 to 90% anti-Obamacare people that the channel 9 news made it sound like there was just as many pro-Obamacare people there.
We were alot louder than the ones bused in from out of the area that was obvious astroturf of the few that were there.
Anybody going to the other ones needs to get there early to get a seat inside.

I just got a robo call saying they were from a non-profit group of community organizations. It was to come out in FAVOR of Health care. It is a Healthcare Reform Meeting on Saturday 8/29 from 3:30-6pm at hte Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at 1243 West Blvd here in Charlotte, NC.
They couldn't have picked a worse side of town. I wonder if it wasn't on purpose.
Is there anyone else going? If so, send me a message on the site.
BTW, I will be going to support Sue Myrick at the townhall tomorrow night.

My first post
It was an interesting evening and I'm glad we went. If anyone is going to the 7:00 one in Gastonia tonight, it might be a good idea to get there at least an hour early if you want a seat. We were in Weddington by 5:00 and the auditorium was already starting to fill up for the 6:30 start..

I was also at the Gastonia Town Hall tonight that was packed with another 98% anti-Obamacare crowd that WBTV channel 3 called a 50/50 split crowd???
What do we have to do to get the media to call it right???
Great town hall! Thank you Sue Myrick!
