I've signed up. Anyone else planning to go?
Tea Party Patriots Health Care Events IMPORTANT - July 17 Simultaneous Health Care Freedom Tea Parties from Coast to Coast http://teapartypatriots.org/HC.aspx
It's at noon, so I figure I could easily fit this in during my lunch hour (long lunch but that's ok).

I'm in Myrick's district, but she's against Healthcare so I'll be going to Mel Watt's office since he's FOR it. What about you Dice?

I'm going to Mel Watts office. But I doubt he will be there. Do you think we'll get media coverage this time?

You can sign up here if you want: http://teapartypatriots.org/HC.aspx
But I don't think it's necessary, so long as you attend an event at either Watts or Myrick's office on Friday at noon. Addresses:
Sue Myrick's offices: 6525 Morrison Boulevard, Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28211 Phone (704) 362-1060
AND
197 West Main Avenue Gastonia, NC 28052 Phone (704) 861-1976
Mel Watt's office: 1230 West Morehead Street, Suite 306 Charlotte, NC 28208-5214 Phone: 704-344-9950
Rep. Sue Myrick is AGAINST universal health care. If you would like to show up at her offices, please have a positive "Thank You"-type message. Let's show her some support! And please email and call her to let her know that you support her position!
Rep. Mel Watt is FOR universal health care. Let's give him a protest he won't soon forget! This is where we need to have a bunch of anti-universal health care signs and banners! We need a huge crowd outside of his office!

I am debating the issue of where to go since I am in Sue Myrick's District on weather to go Thank her or go waste time at Mel Watt's office?
Please don't take this wrong, but Mel Watt's district is a special district that was made to get a majority of African-American voters in it and I don't think I fit the profile that the man only has noticed in the past. Unless I can change skin color and get maybe a few hundred African-Americans to join the protest, we are not going to change Mel Watts mind making it a total waste of time.
Also I am not in Mel Watt's district, he does not represent me and really does not have to listen to me.
I am leaning toward going to Myrick's office to Thank her on voting against "Cap and Trade" and her future voting against the "Healthcare" Issue. This might spur her to influence any other of her fellow congressmen to also vote "No" because of our support!
Maybe we should let her know we are coming and to have the media there to help! It would be a win-win for all compared to a bunch of white people outside of the black congressman's office who represents a majority black congressional district.....see my point putting it bluntly!
Let's all get on the same page and go to the same place!

I'll be at the Watts office even though he won't be there. There's probably a better chance that there'll be media coverage there than at Sue Myrick's South Park office. It's a non-news event that Tea Partiers show up to support Rep Myrick, who's consistently voting for conservative positions.

After talking with some friends, the Mel Watt office is where we are going for the media attention.
See ya there! | |

Fellow Patriots, I have a free market solution to health care if anyone is interested. It starts with individuals owning their own health care policies, not the company that they work for. Private market insurance should be for catastrophic illnesses and accidents, you hear these commonly called HSA eligible health plans. The insurance portion of your health care plan would kick in at 100% if you found a way to spend the up to the deductible that you choose. You could choose a $3,000 deductible or pay a bit less with a $8,000 deductible, it is up to you. We would allow businesses small and large to contribute monthly to a health savings account and you get to manage those funds to pay for doctor's visits, prescription drugs, ect. If your company puts $200 in your HSA each month that is $2400/year! So if you have a $3,000 deductible on your health plan your maximum exposure is $600. If you only spend $1500 this year in medical expenses you will start the next year with $900 left over in your Health Savings Account.
This would give businesses a way to attract high quality talent by giving higher monthly contributions to employees HSA than their competition. Contributions to Health Savings Accounts are already tax deductible, this should remain true. Lets say the company you work for currently pays $900/month for your health care, they would be thrilled to give you $400/month for a contribution to your HSA instead, and they you they can afford to pay you the additional $500 for whatever the heck you need or want!
It would allow individuals to keep their health insurance plan, even if they lost their job. The only thing that would stop is the monthly contributions to the savings account from their employer. That just means you have to keep some money in your HSA and maybe avoid the doctor if you have a simple cold. Or if its just an infection, go to the urgent care for $40 instead of your family doctor for $120. What do you think that would do to health care costs?
Of course tort reform needs to be apart of any serious proposal for reducing costs. The doctors have to pay so much for malpractice insurance and they have to run so many useless tests in order to protect their butts from lawyers. Those costs are destroying our current system. There does need to be a reform, and if this proposal were taken seriously, we would need to allow insurance companies to compete over people with pre-existing medical conditions in way that would keep their costs low. Giving insurance companies a subsidy if they insure someone with cancer, heart problems, ect would keep these people's premiums low and ensure that when some one has a high level of care the doctors and hospitals are paid accordingly. Even if these subsidies for the insurance companies to cover the sick costs us $100 billion, that is a whole lot better than what is being proposed right now.
Ohh, and it would encourage people to take generic drugs if they are available. Even if your employer was contributing $400/month for your health savings account would you use a $4 generic or a $85 non-generic if they are both as effective? This would encourage drug companies to come out with lower cost generics and alternative drugs much quicker than they do now.
