Is the Tea Party movement a serious White House crisis?

Posted by Neil Braithwaite at 02:16 PM on September 15, 2009

A young Chicago political philosopher once said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” That young philosopher, along with his executive branch comrades, are now clamoring to try and find a way to take advantage of a White House in serious crisis.

Unlike the current economic crisis that incubated over many years in a seething caldron of greed and bureaucratic incompetence, with the help of Republicans and Democrats alike, in less than nine months, this White House has created a major political crisis that threatens to emasculate the Obama Presidency -- all by themselves.

President Obama has yet to learn that leadership has its limitations, and with an abundant supply of limited leaders in this White House, the President is destine to learn many lessons the hard way.

While the exact numbers may be disputed, clearly the size of the 9/12 Tea Party march on Washington this past Saturday was never expected by anyone, least of all, this White House. Americans from all walks of life and from every corner of this nation made their voices heard loud and clear. With estimates as high as two million people in attendance, it would seem the White House has no choice but sit up and take notice. But since that’s not going to happen anytime in the near future, this White House crisis, better known as the Tea Party movement, will continue to grow in number and resolve.

While the numbers alone make this grass roots conservative movement a serious force to be reckoned with, it derives its unity and perseverance from those who still believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The advantage, in this case, will always go to those Americans who stand united in the face of tyranny and socialism. The people of this great country understand that political tides have been going in and out since our founding fathers laid the foundation of this unique republic. What the people do not understand is why anyone, Republican or Democrat, would ever attempt to destroy that very foundation.

While the White House wears the face of one man -- President Obama, the Tea Party movement wears the many faces of main street America. A Presidency lasts but a few short years, but America has endured for over 200. The Tea Party movement represents millions of American patriots marching and fighting for liberty and freedom, where as the White House fights for the political policies and socialist ideology for one man -- President Barack Obama.

The Tea Party movement is serving notice to this, and any future White House, that Americans derive their power not from the ego or aspirations of any one man or office, but from the indelible unity of the living spirit of freedom and liberty that lives within us all.
